Omar Kebede is a 22-year-old visual artist from Kenya, currently studying Creative Arts at Kenyatta University. Born and raised in Nairobi, Omar grew up surrounded by the energy of the city’s music, markets, and murals — all of which continue to inspire his artistic voice today.
His work explores identity, cultural memory, and the tension between tradition and modernity. Using a mix of digital media, found materials, and vibrant color palettes, Omar creates bold and layered compositions that speak to the complexities of urban life in East Africa.
As a student, he is deeply committed to using art as a form of resistance and self-expression. Through exhibitions, installations, and storytelling, Omar hopes to engage communities and challenge viewers to see beauty in both chaos and change.
